Simple and Mouthwatering 4 Potato Starters.

 


Do you ever buy frozen potato starters from the market? Now you need not! I am sharing with you today how you can easily make 4 delicious potato starters with just 1 basic dough.

Not only are these potato starters easy to make but also save a lot of time as you can do 4 potato starters at the same time. These 4 potato starters are Potato cheese fries, Garlic potato rings, Potato cheese shots & Potato smileys. With the addition of just some flavoring agent, you can add a different flavor to your potato starters.

Ingredients:

For the Potato Dough:
600 g Potatoes 100 g corn flour Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil
For Potato Fries:
½ cup grated processed cheese
For Cheese Potato Shots:
½ cup grated mozzarella cheese ½ cup bread crumbs Flour slurry
For Garlic Potato Rings:
1 tbsp chopped garlic 1 tbsp chopped coriander 1 tsp red chili flakes
Method:

Potato Dough:
Peel the potatoes and cut into cubes. Place the potatoes in a large pan, cover with water and bring to a boil. Bring to a boil and cook 7-8 minutes till the potatoes are well cooked but not mushy. Drain the potatoes and pass through a sieve to get a fine mash. Add salt to taste and the corn flour. Mix well and knead to a smooth dough. Add 1 tbsp oil to the dough and knead well. Divide the dough into 4 parts.

For Potato Fries:
To the 1st part, add the grated processed cheese and mix well. Dust the floor well with flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm. cut out thin strips of ¼” X 3”. Fry in medium hot oil and remove when golden.
For Cheese Potato shots:
Break the 2nd part of the dough into marble sized balls. Flatten the balls and stuff with 1 tsp grated mozzarella cheese. Seal the balls. Roll and shape into nuggets. Dip the balls in flour slurry, roll in bread crumbs to coat well. Allow the nuggets to rest for 10 minutes. Fry in medium hot oil to a golden color. Remove and serve.

For Garlic Potato Rings:

Add the chopped garlic, coriander, chili flakes to the dough and mix well. Roll out the dough on a dusted floor to a thickness of 1 cm. Using cookie cutters, cut out rings of the dough. Collect the remaining dough and roll again to make more rings.
Fry the rings to a golden color in medium hot oil and serve.

For Potato Smileys:

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm. using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles. Use a skewer to make eyes and a spoon to make a smile on the discs. Fry in medium hot oil to a golden color. Serve hot.


Note: To freeze the potato starter
s, remove when half done. Cool completely and freeze for further use.
